Short Description:
A Payroll Coordinator oversees the payroll process to ensure employees are paid accurately and on schedule while complying with company policies and legal requirements. They manage payroll data, calculate wages and deductions, handle tax withholdings, and process payments through direct deposit or checks. The role also involves resolving payroll discrepancies, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and expertise with payroll systems and software are critical for success in this position.
Duties / Responsibilities:
Review time sheets, work charts, wage computations, and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
Process paperwork for new employees and enter employee information into the payroll system.
Verify attendance, hours worked, and pay adjustments, and post information onto designated records.
Compute wages and deductions, and enter data into computers.
Record employee information, such as exemptions, transfers, and resignations, to maintain and update payroll records.
Process and issue employee paychecks and statements of earnings and deductions.
Keep track of employees' leave time, such as vacation, personal, and sick leave.
Compile employee time, production, and payroll data from time sheets and other records.
Distribute and collect timecards each pay period.
Issue and record adjustments to pay related to previous errors or retroactive increases.
Skills / Requirements / Qualifications
Economics and Accounting: Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
Law and Government: Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process.
Mathematics: Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
Accounting Software: Accurate NXG; Blackbaud The Financial Edge; FlexiLedger software; Intuit Quicken software
Electronic Mail Software: Email software; Microsoft Outlook; Novell GroupWise
