Short Description:

A Claims Assistant supports the claims department by processing and managing insurance claims efficiently. They handle administrative tasks such as verifying claim information, maintaining accurate records, and communicating with claimants to gather necessary documentation. By assisting adjusters and ensuring timely claim resolution, the Claims Assistant helps maintain smooth operations within the claims process. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Review the insurance policy to determine coverage.
  • Prepare insurance claim forms or related documents and review them for completeness.
  • Provide customer services, such as limited instructions on proceeding with claims or referrals to auto repair facilities or local contractors.
  • Organize or work with detailed office or warehouse records, using computers to enter, access, search or retrieve data.
  • Post or attach information to the claim file.
  • Pay small claims.
  • Transmit claims for payment or further investigation.
  • Contact the insured or other involved persons to obtain missing information.
  • Calculate the amount of the claim.
  • Apply insurance rating systems.
