Short Description:

An Automation Technician specializes in the installation, maintenance, and repair of automated systems and equipment used in manufacturing and industrial processes. They play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of automated machinery, including robotics, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and other computer-controlled systems.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain automated systems, including robotics and PLCs.
  • Collaborate with engineers to design and implement automation solutions.
  • Program and configure automation systems to meet specific project requirements.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on automated equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions in automated systems to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and departments to address cross-functional issues.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of automated processes.
  • Document maintenance activities, troubleshooting procedures, and system changes.
  • Train operators and maintenance personnel on the use and maintenance of automated systems.
  • Stay informed about advancements in automation technology and recommend upgrades

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: Associate degree or certification in automation, mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Automated Systems: Proven experience in the installation and maintenance of automated systems.
  • PLC Programming: Strong knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting.
  • Robotic Systems: Familiarity with robotic systems and industrial control systems.
  • Electrical Systems: Understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Analytical: Analytical and problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving issues.
  • Technical Schematics: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Communication: Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Safety Awareness: Safety-conscious approach to working with automated equipment.
  • Continuous Learning: Continuous learning and staying updated on automation technology trends.
