A Control Technician is a specialized professional responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting control systems used in industrial automation processes. These systems may include programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems. Control Technicians play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of machinery and processes in manufacturing, energy, and other industrial sectors.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain control systems, including PLCs and SCADA systems.
- Collaborate with engineers to design and implement control system upgrades and modifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with control systems to minimize downtime.
- Program and code PLCs to control machinery and processes.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on control equipment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate control systems with other components.
- Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and new technologies in control systems.
- Provide technical support and training to plant operators and maintenance teams.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Document and maintain records of control system configurations, changes, and updates.
Skills / Requirements / Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, automation, or a related field.
- Experience: Proven experience as a Control Technician or in a similar role.
- PLC Programming: Proficiency in programming PLCs and working with SCADA systems.
- Control Systems: Knowledge of industrial control systems, instrumentation, and automation.
- Electrical Schematics: Familiarity with electrical schematics and control system design.
- Troubleshooting: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Communication: Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Attention to Detail: Attention to detail and precision in configuring and maintaining control systems.
- Adaptive: Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
