Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and work from detailed blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Weld and fabricate heavy steel components using techniques such as arc welding, MIG welding, and TIG welding.
  • Operate and maintain welding equipment and tools.
  • Ensure the precision and accuracy of measurements and cuts.
  • Inspect and assess the quality of welded joints and finished products.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to meet project requirements.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on welding equipment to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Follow safety protocols and use protective gear during welding and fabrication.
  • Meet project deadlines and production quotas while maintaining quality standards.
  • Continuously update skills and knowledge of new welding techniques and technologies.

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or apprenticeship in welding is often required.
  • Experience: Proven experience as a Heavy Steel Welder and Fabricator.
  • Welding Techniques: Proficiency in various welding techniques, including arc welding, MIG welding, and TIG welding.
  • Blueprints: Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Mathematical: Strong mathematical and measurement skills for precision in fabrication.
  • Physical: Physical fitness and stamina to handle the demands of heavy steel fabrication.
  • Safety Protocols: Knowledge of safety protocols and experience using protective gear.
  • Material Properties: Familiarity with different types of steel and their properties.
  • Attention to Detail: Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Certifications: Certification in welding and fabrication is often preferred.
