Short Description:

A Supplier Quality Engineer is a professional responsible for ensuring that suppliers deliver products and components that meet quality standards and specifications. They play a critical role in the supply chain, collaborating with suppliers and internal teams to maintain and improve product quality, reduce defects, and enhance overall supplier performance.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement supplier quality standards and procedures.
  • Conduct supplier audits to assess compliance with quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for supplier quality.
  • Conduct risk assessments and qualification processes for new suppliers.
  • Participate in supplier selection and evaluation based on quality performance.
  • Provide training to suppliers on quality standards and expectations.
  • Perform root cause analysis for quality-related issues and implement preventive measures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of supplier quality processes.
  • Monitor and report on supplier quality metrics and trends.

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Experience in supplier quality engineering or a similar role.
  • Quality Management Systems: Strong knowledge of quality management systems and tools.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with industry-specific quality standards and regulations.
  • Analytical: Analytical and problem-solving skills for root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Project Management: Project management skills to coordinate supplier quality initiatives.
  • Attention to Detail: Attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Certifications: Certification in quality management (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Engineer) is often preferred.
