Short Description:

A Supplier Quality Manager is a leadership role overseeing the quality assurance and performance of suppliers within an organization's supply chain. They are responsible for developing and implementing quality standards, conducting supplier audits, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that products and components meet or exceed specified requirements.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement supplier quality strategies and standards.
  • Lead a team of Supplier Quality Engineers and professionals.
  • Conduct regular supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for supplier quality.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to address and resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Participate in supplier selection and qualification processes.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
  • Monitor and analyze supplier quality data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate quality considerations into the entire supply chain process.
  • Provide leadership in continuous improvement initiatives related to supplier quality.

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Extensive experience in supplier quality management or a similar role.
  • Quality Management Systems: Strong knowledge of quality management systems and tools.
  • Leadership: Leadership and management skills to lead a team and drive quality initiatives.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Analytical: Analytical and problem-solving skills for root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with industry-specific quality standards and regulations.
  • Project Management: Project management skills to coordinate supplier quality programs.
  • Certifications: Certification in quality management (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Manager) is often preferred.
