Short Description:

A Mechanical Assembler is responsible for assembling mechanical components and products according to detailed specifications and blueprints. They use a variety of tools and equipment to fit, align, and secure parts, ensuring each assembly meets quality standards. The role requires troubleshooting and making adjustments to ensure proper functionality, as well as maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Mechanical Assemblers must follow safety protocols, work efficiently, and collaborate with team members to meet production deadlines. Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to read technical drawings are essential for this position.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Fit and assemble mechanical parts, subassemblies, and components using hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and assembly instructions to ensure accurate construction.
  • Conduct quality checks on parts and assemblies to ensure they meet specifications and standards.
  • Use a variety of tools, such as drills, wrenches, and soldering equipment, to complete assembly tasks.
  • Modify or repair components and assemblies to meet quality requirements.
  • Keep the workspace organized and free of hazards to promote efficiency and safety.
  • Conduct functional tests on finished assemblies to ensure they operate correctly.
  • Work closely with engineers, technicians, and other assemblers to resolve issues and improve assembly processes.
  • Follow company safety standards and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Record completed tasks, test results, and any deviations from specifications for quality assurance.

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Educational Background: High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in mechanics or assembly is a plus.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Strong understanding of mechanical systems and tools, with the ability to troubleshoot basic issues.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to follow detailed assembly instructions and produce high-quality work.
  • Manual Dexterity: Proficiency in handling small parts and tools with precision.
  • Experience with Tools and Equipment: Familiarity with using hand tools, power tools, and measurement devices like calipers and micrometers.
  • Blueprint and Schematic Reading: Capability to interpret and work from technical diagrams and specifications.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform repetitive tasks, stand for extended periods, and lift objects as needed.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Safety Awareness: Commitment to following safety protocols and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to handle changing tasks, priorities, or processes in a manufacturing environment.
