A CAD Drafter/Designer utilizes Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to create detailed technical drawings and plans for a variety of industries such as architecture, engineering, and manufacturing. They play a crucial role in turning conceptual ideas into precise, dimensioned drawings that serve as the foundation for construction or production.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed 2D and 3D drawings using CAD software based on project specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, or designers to understand project requirements.
  • Ensure that drawings adhere to industry standards and project guidelines.
  • Revise and update drawings based on feedback and changes in project scope.
  • Produce assembly and layout drawings, including materials and dimensions.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate CAD drawings into the overall project.
  • Conduct quality checks on drawings to identify and correct errors or inconsistencies.
  • Stay informed about advancements in CAD technology and incorporate new tools and techniques.
  • Maintain a library of design and drafting documents for reference and future use.
  • Communicate and coordinate with team members to ensure project deadlines are met.

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: Associate degree or certificate in drafting or a related field.
  • CAD Software: Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Revit.
  • Accuracy: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in creating technical drawings.
  • Engineering Principles: Knowledge of engineering and architectural principles.
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of industry standards and regulations.
  • Communication: Good communication and collaboration skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Problem-solving abilities to address design challenges.
