A Mechanical Engineering Manager is a professional who oversees and leads mechanical engineering teams in designing, developing, and implementing mechanical systems and products. They provide definition documents as well as detailed calculations, drawings, and specifications and are able to step into the role of engineer, program lead or project lead if needed. They play a key role in project management, ensuring that engineering objectives align with organizational goals and that products meet quality and safety standards.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of mechanical engineers in the design and development of products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Develop project plans, budgets, and timelines for mechanical engineering projects.
  • Oversee the testing and validation of mechanical systems and components.
  • Evaluate and optimize existing mechanical designs for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the engineering team.
  • Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to understand project requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, standards, and safety protocols.
  • Participate in the recruitment and training of mechanical engineering staff.

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: Extensive experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on product development.
  • Leadership: Proven leadership and project management skills.
  • CAD Software: Strong knowledge of CAD software and other engineering tools.
  • Analytical: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Communication: Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
  • Budgeting: Experience in managing budgets and resource allocation.
  • Certifications: Professional engineering licensure is often preferred.
